A Brief history…
It all began with the establishment of the first Capoeira school in the UK. Founded in 1988 by Mestre Silvia. the London School of Capoeira was built on a personal mission of bringing rich Brazilian culture and the martial art of capoeira to the UK. Establishing its first space in Highbury Grove - Islington, the London School of Capoeira became the first space dedicated to the artform.
The need for a new space…
After the arrival of Mestre Marcos in 1992 (husband and co-founder to Mestre Silvia) the school continued to grow in student numbers and public popularity.
The growth of the school, as well as the high costs of running the space in Highbury, demonstrated a need to find a new, larger space in North London.
